The Technion will present a mini-crawler (ViRob) at the next Conference in Israel on life sciences, Biomed. This robot has the potential to treat lung cancer by conducting medical operations inside the human body.
The ViRob can navigate and explore different parts of the body, including blood vessels, digestive system and respiratory system. Moreover, the unique structure of the robot structure gives it the ability to move in tight spaces and curves in the passages and the opportunity to stay for a while therefore the body, making the technology and revolutionary ideal to perform minimally invasive medical operations.
Moshe Shoham, Director of Medical Robotics Laboratory at the Technion, said: "This robot is a major advance in the biomedical industry, since it allows doctors to reach inaccessible areas in the body with minimal intrusion body. The technology allows for centralized processing, without unnecessary dispersal in other areas of the body.
